Hands-on laboratory and experimental work is a fundamental requirement for accreditation of engineering degrees. Engineers Australia requires accredited programs to provide substantial practical experience through laboratories, experiments, investigations, and projects so that graduates can apply theory, use contemporary engineering tools, and demonstrate professional competencies.

In core subjects such as Statics, Mechanics of Materials, Structures, and Dynamics, universities often rely on problem-based learning, design-and-build exercises, recorded laboratory demonstrations, and tutor-led experiments. These approaches provide limited opportunities for students to conduct experiments themselves. As laboratory reports commonly form part of assessment, reports generated from shared observations and results often exhibit significant similarity and may raise plagiarism concerns.

TechnoLab™ addresses these issues through bundles of lesson-focused experiment kits, typically comprising 12 Pixi Frames for a class of 24 students working in pairs. Each pair conducts the same themed experiment under unique test conditions to any other pair. Using planar photogrammetry and proprietary image-rectification software, students independently record and analyse results from their own photographs. Individual reporting, supported by unique test data and photographic evidence submitted through the university LMS, makes the TechnoLab™ platform highly resistant to plagiarism while providing genuine hands-on learning experiences.
